Ironman has confirmed that Spinlister, the peer-to-peer global bike share service, will be the Official Bike Share of Ironman for the 2014 race season. Spinlister will make its service available at the 11 US Ironman races remaining in the 2014 season including the Ironman World Championship presented by GoPro in Kona, Hawaii as well as the Subaru Ironman North American Championship Mont-Tremblant, the Subaru Ironman Canada and the Ironman European Championship Frankfurt triathlons.

Spinlister will provide Ironman athletes a peer-to-peer global bike share, allowing users to list and rent bicycles from each other. With users in over 100 countries, Spinlister is aiming to eventually  list one million bikes globally. Spinlister is building a network of athletes and also includes surfboards, Stand Up Paddle Boards and ski rentals. Athletes can make up to $500 a month by renting out their equipment. The fast growing service is easy to use and is gaining momentum.

“As Ironman continues to grow, Spinlister is the perfect tool to connect triathletes worldwide,” said Ironman World Champion and Spinlister athlete Chris McCormack. “No longer is that destination race out of the question, you don’t have to miss that crucial training block when travelling, you now have access to the Spinlister Community….I’m proud to have been one of the first triathletes to list bikes and I’m excited to see Ironman finding value in a platform I believe in.”

This year Ironman has made numerous acquisitions and now has a presence in 27 countries. “We are very excited to be partnering with Spinlister,” said Andrew Messick, Chief Executive Officer for Ironman. “As the Ironman brand expands globally, the need for a strong triathlon community becomes more and more apparent. Spinlister is connecting our athletes in new ways by providing a great service and we are excited to have them on board.”

Ironman and Spinlister are encouraging triathletes to join the global bike share to earn money, eliminate hassle, and meet likeminded athletes by listing their bikes at www.spinlister.com/list. All listed bikes are insured up to US$5,000 against theft or damage.
