Raelert and Beranek win the Ironman 70.3 European Championship

Canada's Andrew Russell takes ninth.

Germany’s Michael Raelert used the top run of 1:11:16 to win the men’s race at the Ironman 70.3 European Championship.

Fellow German Anja Beranek used the top ride of 2:42:28 to take over the lead from Great Britain’s Jodie Swallow at the 21 km mark of the bike and stayed there for good for the win.

Victoria’s Andrew Russell completed the swim in sixth, dropped back to 13th during the bike but moved up to ninth with a 1:16:40 run.
