New World Record at Challenge Roth

Wellington clocks 8:19!

At yesterday’s Challenge Roth (Roth, Germany), Great Britain’s Chrissie Wellington knocked off 12 minutes and 46 seconds from the Ironman distance World Record that she set last year at Roth, when she crossed the line in 8:19:13. Wellington swam 50:28, biked 4:36:33, and ran 2:48:54. Her next closest competitor, Australia’s Rebekah Keat finished over 32 minutes behind in 8:52:10. Canada’s Tereza Macel was third (9:09:29), breaking her old personal best time of 9:11:20.

Meanwhile, Denmark’s Rasmus Henning was only 2:09 off of Luc van Lierde’s World Record of 7:50:27. Henning swam 46:57, biked 4:23:25, and ran 2:39:43 to finish in a time of 7:52:36. Germany’s Sebastian Kienle was second (7:59:06), and Spain’s Eneko Llanos was third (8:02:33).
