Whitfield and Balazs announced as Pan Am Torchbearers

Four-time Olympian and Triathlon Canada Hall-of-Famer Simon Whitfield was named as the marquee torchbearer at this summer’s Pan Am Games in Toronto. The torch was unveiled this morning at a ceremony at the Ontario Science Centre. Whitfield carried the Olympic torch at the Vancouver Olympics. The Pan Am torch relay will extend through a number of provinces but will mostly run through Ontario.

Toronto’s Olympic marathon swimmer and Toronto police officer Zsofi Balazs was also announced as a torchbearer. Balazs is also making her bid for the Pan Am games team.
