World Triathlon has “given the green light to the Elite, U23, Junior and Paratriathlon World Championships” at the end of the year, but has not announced where those races will be held or the dates.

“After reviewing the recommendations from the Athletes, Technical and Coaches Committees, and also after consultations with all National Federations regarding the convenience of organizing this year World Championships for all Elite categories, the Executive Board gave the green light for all of them,” according to a release sent out today.

Edmonton was supposed to host the Elite, U23 and Junior worlds at the Grand Final in August, but that event had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Paratriathlon World Championships were initially scheduled to take place in Italy in May, then moved to Montreal in May. The Mixed Relay World Championships are supposed to take place in Hamburg, Germany in September.

We also learned today that a number of events will be cancelled including the Zofingen Long Distance Duathlon World Championship in Switzerland and the Chengdu, Weihai and Wenzhou Multisport World Cups.
