While just getting in the open water may help you feel more comfortable, doing focused open water workouts can really make a difference in your swim split.

When a lot of triathletes do an open water swim (OWS) workout they tend to focus on the milage without much structure. This can be good at times, but there will be points where you want to get more out of your sessions. Andrew Bolton is a professional triathlete (fresh off winning MSC Gravenhurst) and a coach, and he shares a workout you can do the next time you’re at the lake.
