6 signs that you are obsessed with triathlon
Don't worry if you're addicted to the sport—most of us are

For a lot of triathletes, complete a triathlon was an item on their bucket list that they wanted to cross off. However, after successfully crossing the finish line of what they thought would be their only race, they realized that they fell in love with the sport somewhere between the swim start and the end of the run. It’s completely normal to become obsessed with triathlon, and we’re betting that—since you’re reading this—you fall into that category. Don’t think you are obsessed? Well, here are six signs that you’re wrong about that.
You can’t sleep
For most people, getting up early to swim, bike, or run sounds awful, but for obsessive triathletes, we can’t wait for our alarm clock to ring. You might finish your day of training and head to bed wishing it was already morning, which leads to you being unable to sleep because you’re simply too excited about the next day’s workout. If you’ve ever had this pre-workout excitement keep you from sleeping, then we have some news for you: you’re obsessed with triathlon.
Dream of racing
When you finally do get to sleep, do you dream of training or racing? Maybe they’re good dreams of you winning your next race, finishing your first Ironman, or setting a PB. Or they could be nightmares of race mornings when you forgot your bike at home or miss the start altogether. In either case, this is your brain telling you that you are obsessed with the sport, because it is truly all you can think about.
You hate missing workouts
Have you ever been invited to go visit with friends on a spontaneous outing only to realize that saying yes will mean you miss a workout? You want to see and hang out with your friends, but you’re not sure if it’s worth missing your swim session for the night. If you’re someone who cannot stand missing your workouts (and might even ditch your friends to make sure that doesn’t happen), then you’re likely addicted to triathlon.
Your holiday wishlist is only tri-related
The holidays are coming up, which means your friends and family might be asking you for a list of gift ideas. It’s a clear sign you are obsessed with this sport if you look at your wishlist and see that there is not a single item on it that isn’t triathlon-focused. No judgment, we know that you need those new goggles, but you have to stop denying that you’re madly in love with this sport.
Your vacation plans are training-focused
You can’t wait for your vacation. You really need a break from work, and it will be so nice to go somewhere hot and sunny for a week or two. Oh, and you of course have to bring your bike… and your running shoes… and your swim gear. And why? Well, because why would you waste a week of beautiful weather on just relaxing? You need to take advantage of the warmth to get some serious training in, right? Again, we aren’t judging you for this, but if it’s something you’ve done, then yes, you’re obsessed with triathlon.
