Bermuda Triathlon is about six weeks away. Still, there’s time to gather a crew of your training partners and tri-club friends and make the event a destination race to kick off your 2018 season. Here are five reasons why this sprint or Olympic distance race is perfect for your tri club this spring.
Tri Club Perks
If you can find a total of 10 athletes from your club to register before March 23, there are some great tri club benefits being offered by the race:
- Receive one free entry for all 10 of you
- Gain access to the preferred club line for quick packet pick up
- Get admittance to preferred clubs’ private area, which is located directly at the AG transition:
- Secure a private area for each club tent
- Receive dedicated restroom facilities in the club area
- Gain access to dedicated onsite a bike mechanic for club area
- Get complimentary refreshments
Compete in a relay
Maybe you aren’t ready to race a triathlon yet this season. If so, take part in a relay and race your favourite leg of the triathlon. This event is a great way to have fun with your training partners, try something new, go all out in your favourite sport and maybe create some light-hearted competition among teammates if you manage to get enough people out to create multiple relay teams. You can register for the relays here.
Fun events all weekend
There will be no shortage of festivities to take part in around the race itself. These events not only make the Bermuda Triathlon great for you and your team, but your family, too. The kick-off to race weekend takes place with an opening party on the Thursday, with a party on Front Street and a triathlon-themed pasta party.
“This will be the public’s first look at the event venue and the World Triathlon Expo, with the street alive with music, visiting athletes enjoying local cuisine and each vendor offering a carb meal option, a tradition for athletes before a big event,” race organizers say.
Next up is a kids’ race taking place on Friday, April 27 for children ages 7 to 15, followed by another street party — the Feather Mile, perfect for a little shake out run in before the race.
The highlight for some athletes will likely be the hangover swim the morning after the race. They’ll be able to unwind and mingle with the locals on the beautiful beach and celebrate their accomplishments from the day before with a casual ocean swim.
Cheer on the elites, as a team
Take it from us — WTS races are some of the most fun to watch. The races are shorter, faster and more exciting than Ironmans. You can spot who’s from your country easily. Immerse yourself in the festival-style weekend and get your tri club members out to cheer on your favourite ITU pros at the WTS Bermuda race taking place during the afternoon of Saturday, April 28 after the morning’s age group races.
A great destination to enjoy post-race festivities
Relax and unwind on the gorgeous Bermudan beaches after your race. There are also a ton of great activities and locations to visit in Bermuda — we have more info on that, here.
