What is Canada’s most popular Ironman?

Since its inception in 2012, Ironman Mont-Tremblant has been considered one of the sport’s premier events. Ironman was so impressed with the region and race organization that when it came time to start rotating the venue for its Ironman 70.3 World Championship, it went to Mont-Tremblant, making it the first place outside the United States to host an Ironman world championship event.

The event remains one of the most popular races on the Ironman circuit, which was proven today with the release of the winners of Ironman’s Athlete Choice Awards. Mont-Tremblant was the second-highest ranked event in North America for its swim and run courses, along with its finish line. It was considered to have the best bike course, too. While athletes appear to have enjoyed the course and finish line, Mont-Tremblant wasn’t as popular in terms of the race venue or post-race experience, two categories that the event considered the “best overall race” – Ironman Texas – finished either first or second.

The other Canadian full-distance event, Ironman Canada, took third in the swim course standings, and fourth in terms of its bike course.

“Results for the North American regional 2022 Athlete Choice Awards were gathered from post event surveys sent to all athletes who competed in a Ironman North America Series triathlon,” Ironman wrote in today’s press release. “Surveys were based on a five-point satisfaction scale and encompassed multiple categories including: Overall Swim, Overall Bike, Overall Run, Overall Satisfaction, Overall Venue Experience, Overall Post-Race Celebration, Will Attend Next Year, and Will Recommend to a Friend, among others.”
