She arrived as the pre-race favourite, even if Air Canada managed to leave her suitcase in Heathrow Airport, and Great Britain’s Georgia Taylor-Brown lived up to expectations today by taking the World Triathlon Championship Series race in Montreal today, outrunning France’s Cassandre Beaugrand and countrywoman Beth Potter to take the win.

Canada’s Emy Legault made it to the second of three rounds in today’s final, while Dominika Jamnicky was eliminated after the first round.

Taylor-Brown, Beaugrand and Potter were able to break away early on in the bike during the third round of the Eliminator final here in Montreal. They came off the bike with a small lead over a chase pack of about four, but the final result was never in question as Taylor-Brown surged to the front early in the 2 km run. Potter tried to keep things close, but would eventually be caught before the end of the first loop of the run by the Frenchwoman. That’s how the standings remained.
