T100, WTCS team up for August race weekend in the French Riviera

The PTO has moved the T100 race from June to August to form a "golden weekend of triathlon"

The PTO and World Triathlon have announced that T100 French Riviera in Saint-Raphaël-Fréjus, France, will double as a World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) event. This will mark the first time that the T100 Tour and WTCS schedules will collide. The race weekend is slated for August 29 to 31.

The PTO will be pushing T100 French Riviera by two months, as it was previously scheduled to run at the end of June. PTO CEO Sam Renouf said his team is thrilled by the development. “This is hugely exciting news and the outcome of very positive and collaborative discussions with the French Triathlon Federation and World Triathlon,” he said, adding that this pairing with the WTCS will “create a mega weekend of triathlon.”

To add even more excitement to the weekend, this will be the first time that France has hosted a WTCS event. “France has a rich history and deep connection with triathlon, and this addition emphasizes our commitment to expanding the sport,” said World Triathlon president Antonio Arimany.

The Saint-Raphaël-Fréjus WTCS event will feature a sprint race, while the T100 event will include the tour’s classic longer distance of 100 kilometres (2K swim, 80K bike, 18K run) for the professional athletes. In addition to the pro races, there will be age group T100 events, including a 100-kilometre race and a super sprint triathlon.

The race weekend will be the fifth stop on the WTCS calendar and the fourth of the T100 tour.
