Warm up: Canadian Race

Picturesque Tri Racing

Subaru Banff Triathlon

Set in Banff National Park, the Subaru Banff Triathlon takes in the incredible beauty of one of the world’s most famous parks, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of the natural beauty of the area. It offers an incredible opportunity to combine a holiday in one of the world’s most beautiful spots with a chance to race with some of Canada’s top triathletes – this year’s event will serve as a qualifier for the Canadian national team.

The swim takes place in the pristine waters of Two Jack Lake. The bike features a closed lane and loops around the picturesque Minnewanka Loop Road and into the town of Banff. The day ends in town at Central Park, where athletes enjoy a gourmet burger to celebrate their achievement.

There are three events including Olympic, sprint and super-sprint distances. The race starts at 10 a.m. to ensure optimal weather conditions – last year’s race featured a sunny day with a high of 28 degrees Celsius.

Part of the Subaru Western Triathlon Series, the race takes place on September 8th, 2012 and will serve as the Alberta Sprint Provincial Championship and will offer qualifying spots for the 2013 Triathlon World Championship.
