The race renowned as the world’s toughest Ironman lived up to its reputation last Saturday – the day featured fierce winds and hot temperatures to ensure that the 30th anniversary event was as tough as ever.
Saturday’s race saw Belgium’s Kenneth Vandendriessche and Great Britain’s Lydia Dant take their first Ironman titles in a couple of close races that saw them pushed right to the line.

Canadian Angela Naeth was competing in Lanzarote – she finished fifth in the women’s pro race.
