New York City Triathlon scheduled for July, entry lottery opens on April 14

Event pending health guidelines and city approval

Pending health guidelines and city approval, the New York City Triathlon is scheduled to take place on July 11, with athletes who deferred their registration after the cancellation of last year’s race  getting first access to the event until April 13, then a lottery running for 14 days to fill up the remaining slots.

The lottery will open at 12 am EST on April 14 and run through 11:59 pm on April 28. You can find out more about the event and the lottery here.

The standard-distance race features a 1,5 km swim in the Hudson River, a 40 km bike along the Westside Highway and a 10 km run in Central Park, which is where the race finishes. The pro prize purse is US$5,000, US$1,500 and $1,000 for first, second and third places.

The New York City Triathlon is owned and produced by Life Time, which also owns the Chicago and Miami Marathons, the Leadville Race Series and Unbound Gravel. 2019 was to have been the 19th running of the event in the heart of one of the world’s biggest cities, with 4,000 athletes expected to compete, but a heatwave forced organizers to cancel the race that year. COVID forced organizers to cancel the race again last year.
