Laundry sprints to the win
Jessey the Elf led the way out of the water with Tristan Jones on his feet, with Taylor Reid and Cody Beals 22 seconds behind and Laundry another 12 seconds back. Jessey the Elf was able to hang on to his lead through the bike, but the trio of Beals, Laundry and Reid were all close enough to pass him by 3 km into the 5 km run. Laundry and Reid traded the lead a number of times in the last 400 m sprint to the line, with last year’s Ironman 70.3 Mont-Tremblant champion taking the win. Reid finished with the same time, while Beals was 14 seconds behind in third.
