As we hope for a return to some sort of race travel at some point in 2021, Ironman adds another race-cation venue to it’s calendar: Ironman 70.3 Egypt at the Red Sea resort town of Hurghada, “known for its beautiful sandy beaches and also renowned among diving and snorkeling enthusiast for its beautiful islands and stunning coral reefs.”

The one-loop swim takes place in Sahel Hasheesh Bay, followed by a flat, one-loop 90 km bike “that leads through the desert hinterland of Hurghada with a beautiful overview of the Red Sea mountain range” before finishing with a two-loop run through the “tourism hotspots of Sahel Hasheesh Bay.”

Temperatures in Hurghada in November are typically between 21 and 26 degrees, so the event shouldn’t be too much of a challenge for tourists from Canada who look to combine a race with a holiday in the land of the pyramids.

The race will offer 30 qualifying slots for the 2022 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Taupo, New Zealand.
