Some big news for Ontario triathletes arrived today thanks to a Facebook post from the organizers of Ironman 70.3 Muskoka: “We are excited to announce that the 2021 Subaru Ironman 70.3 Muskoka on August 29 is officially ON!”

The post also says that there will be “limited spots available, and registration will open tomorrow at 10:00 am EST.”

Set in the beautiful Muskoka region, the race is based at the Canada Summit Centre in downtown Huntsville. The course includes a one-loop, 1.9 km swim in Fairy Lake, followed by an out-and-back bike course through Lake of Bays and passing Baysville. The run heads through Huntsville and finishes back at the Summit Centre.

Huntsville has an impressive triathlon history – in 1992 the town hosted the Triathlon World Championships and has hosted some prestigious events including a Triathlon Pro Tour race in the mid 1990s, the Subaru Muskoka Chase and, for one year (2015), Ironman Muskoka. Ironman 70.3 Muskoka started in 2008.

This year’s race will offer qualifying slots for the 2022 Ironman 70.3 World Champioship in Taupo, New Zealand.
