The first of four straight weekends of Super League Triathlon racing gets underway this weekend in London – the athletes will compete in a “Triple Mix” race that involves three triathlon races done in a different order. (They begin with swim/ bike/ run, then do a run/ bike/ swim and end with a bike/ swim/ run that is sent off in a pursuit format.)

After this weekend the racing continues in Munich, Jersey and Malibu, finishing at the end of the month in California.

Today Super League announced the fields for this weekend’s race, which feature both the men’s (Vincent Luis) and women’s (Katie Zaferes) defending champions (pictured above), but don’t include the Tokyo gold medalists (Flora Duffy and Kristian Blummenfelt). The field is also missing any Canadians. The rest of the Tokyo podiums are on hand though – Alex Yee took silver with Hayden Wilde rounding out the podium, while Zaferes was the bronze medalist and will have to face silver medalist Georgia Taylor-Brown.

A positive COVID test has sidelined the Super League Arena Games Rotterdam and London champion Marten Van Riel, but it’s hoped he’ll be able to return for the following week’s event in Munich.

The women’s race starts at 12:30 pm local time (7:30 am EST), while the men get underway at 2 pm local time (9 am EST). You can register to watch the Super League Triathlon races live by clicking on the link below.
