How to watch Alistair Brownlee make his Ironman debut in Ireland

On June 23rd, the two-time Olympic gold medallist, Alistair Brownlee, will make his Ironman distance debut in Cork, Ireland. With Brownlee’s most recent return to racing, many wonder what kind of performance the Brit will put in. Throughout his career, Brownlee has struggled with various injuries, and it remains to be seen how his body will hold up over the Ironman distance.

What is known is that he does have the potential and pedigree to be a very good Ironman triathlete, possibly the best. If his debut half-Ironman is any indication of what is possible at the full-distance – a 3:41:58 in St. George (2017) – Brownlee could be considered a favourite at Kona if he were to qualify. And let’s not forget his second-place finish at the 2018 Ironman 70.3 World Championship (3:37:41)  – one of the most entertaining long course races all-time.

On June 23rd, you can watch Brownlee’s debut at Ironman Cork. Full coverage begins at 1:45 AM (EST) on the Ironman Now Facebook page, so you can tune into the race first thing in the morning. The livestream will be broken into two parts, with part two scheduled to begin at 6:45 AM.

On the men’s side, Brownlee is expected to be challenged by Victor Del Corral, Marino Vanhoenacker, Igor Amorelli, and many other long course seasoned veterans. On the women’s side, American Linsey Corbin will be going up against a reduced field of European and local talent. Canadian Angela Naeth has withdrawn from the race due to surgery on her wrist.
