Frodeno will race Challenge Miami after all

Race favourite overcomes paperwork issues

After being turned away from his flight last week, Jan Frodeno is now on his way to Florida to race at Challenge Miami on Friday. The three-time Kona champ and Olympic gold medalist posted a message on Facebook from the airport as he was making the trip over to the United States yesterday.

Athletes from many countries had to get special permission from the Department of Homeland Security in order to be able to enter the United States during the pandemic. Issues with Frodeno’s paperwork meant he wasn’t allowed to board his flight last week.

“Despite all the ups and downs it’s been going pretty good,” he said in a post on Instagram. “Looking forward to be getting in a little nap on the flight and then stretching out the legs on the other side.”
