A star-studded field announced for Escape from Alcatraz

On Sunday, June 9th, a world-class field will assemble on the start line of Escape from Alcatraz. Beginning on the shore of Alcatraz Island, 2,000 age group and professional triathletes will swim 2.4K to Marina Green, bike 30K around Presidio and run 13K out onto Baker Beach and up the infamous Sand Ladder.

The professional race will include Olympians Ben Kanute (USA), Jarrod Shoemaker (USA), Ryan Fisher (AUS), Paula Findlay (CAN), Ironman 70.3 world champion Holly Lawrence (GBR) and multiple Ironman and 70.3 winners.

In 2018, Kanute and Sarah Haskins-Korteum (USA) took the win, and in 2019 they will be back to defend their titles. Earlier this spring, both Kanute and Haskins-Korteum won St. Anthony’s Triathlon in Florida.

After a two-year hiatus, Joe Maloy (USA), a 2016 Rio Olympian and Escape from Alcatraz champion has returned to triathlon.
