Patrick Lange crashes at training camp – St. George worlds questionable
Two-time world champion likely to miss Ironman World Championship due to shoulder injury
Two-time Ironman world champion Patrick Lange had his most recent training camp in Spain come to an abrupt end when he crashed and broke his acromioclavicular joint.
“Really not the way I wish my training camp comes to an end,” Lange posted on Instagram over the weekend. “A bike crash caused an acromioclavicular (AC) joint injury.”

Like all triathletes around the world, Lange was forced into a restricted race schedule last year, but had two very impressive wins at Ironman Tulsa in May and at Challenge Roth in September. He appeared to be rounding into excellent shape heading into the 2022 season and was preparing to start the race season at Challenge Salou in Spain this weekend.
The triathlon community offered lots of positive messages for the German Ironman world champ, as do we, wishing him a speedy recovery.
