XTERRA Canadian Open Championships goes Sunday

XTERRA World Championship slots up for grabs in Whistler.

The 2011 XTERRA Canadian Open Championships takes place on Sunday in Whistler, British Columbia.

The XTERRA Canadian Open Championship distance is a 2 lap of 750 m Swim, 2 laps of 9 km on the Bike, and 1 Lap of 12 km on the Run. There is also the XTERRA Sport Distance that is exactly half the distance of the full event (Swim: 1 lap of 750m Bike: 1 lap of 9 km Run: 1 lap of 6 km).

The swim takes place in the clear warm water of Alta lake at Rainbow Park (Wetsuits). 2 laps of 750m with a short beach run between laps. The mountain bike has fantastic single track sections, lung busting climbs, bridges and exciting descents. T1 and T2 will be at Rainbow Park with the finish line at Nita Lake Lodge.

XTERRA World Championship Slots (October 24th):

15-19: 1 M and F 20-24: 1 M and F 25-29: 2 M and F 30-34: 3 M, 2 F 35-39: 3 M, 2 F 40-44: 3 M, 2 F 45-49: 2 M and F 50-54: 2 M and F 55-59: 1 M and F 60-64: 1 M and F 65-69: 1 M and F 70+:1 PC: 1 Roll Down Policy Applies. If any spots are available after roll down in each age group, any athlete who raced multiple XTERRA events in Canada will have priority.

All Canadian Age Group Winners in the Championship Off Road Triathlon will Receive a Championship Jersey!

For those who don’t like swimming there is the Duathlon Championship Distance Race which will consist of the same bike and run course (and same distances). There is a Team option in both the traditional XTERRA Championship Distance and in the Duathlon Championship Distance.

New this year is the National XTERRA Trail Running Championships (6 and 12km distances) on Sunday, September 4th. Slots will be available to compete at the World XTERRA Trail Running Championships in Hawaii in December.
