Widney and Kemper win ITU Monroe

Russell places third, Wan and McCartney crack the top ten.

Edmonton’s Chantell Widney maintained a position near the front of the race and once she got to the 10 km run, she steadily built an insurmountable lead with the top run split (37:19) to take her first international race victory (2:01:35). The Americans, Kaitlin Shiver (2:01:49) and Annie Warner (2:02:00) grabbed second and third.

American Hunter Kemper crushed the men’s field, winning by over 2 minutes (1:49:51). Victoria’s Andrew Russell ran well (34:16) but had to settle for third (1:52:21) behind the USA’s Ben Collins (1:52:06).
