Wellington and Henning dominate Timberman 70.3

Gervais takes third.

Great Britain’s Chrissie Wellington and Denmark’s Rasmus Henning both led from start to finish to take home Ironman 70.3 Timberman wins in Gilford, New Hampshire today.

Wellington won her fourth Timberman title with top times in all three segments. She swam 27:08, biked 2:27:51, and ran a stunning 1:18:44 (only one man ran faster) to cross the finish line in 4:16:33. She ended up ninth overall. American Caitlin Snow, one of the top runners in the sport, ran 1:22:52 to take second (4:26:36), and Quebec’s Annie Gervais used a 1:28:33 half marathon to move into third (4:34:24).

Likewise, Henning’s domination started right out of the water with a 23:54 swim, he then added the top ride of the day (2:07:11), and ran 1:20:17 to take earn a comfortable 3:53:41 victory. American Mike Caiazzo moved up into second during the bike and kept that position to the finish line (4:01:30), and Germany’s Stephan Vuckovic took third in 4:06:36). Julien Biboud of Sherbrooke, Quebec was the eighth best professional male (4:24:59).
