Melanie McQuaid Video Head shotMcQuaid said, “The book has brought together a group of intelligent, experienced and accomplished women in the sport of triathlon to create a great resource for aspiring triathletes.  I was honored to collaborate with such incredible women and play a small part by creating a chapter in this book.  The book contains some great information along with ideas to implement into a  training plan which I think athletes will find is a great resource.”

This guide includes 18 chapters and nearly 300 pages covering the unique demands facing today’s female triathletes, with the most effective strategies for training and competing through all of life’s stages; avoiding and overcoming common injuries; and balancing the constant demands of the sport, family, and work. The Women’s Guide to Triathlon also includes tips specific to each of the sport’s three disciplines, strength training and nutrition.

“I applaud this book created by USA Triathlon to educate women on the sport of triathlon,” said Marisol Casado, ITU President and IOC Member. “It contains a wealth of information for anyone looking to get started in triathlon to those looking to hone their skills, written by women for women. Triathlon can be an intimidating sport to start, but this book breaks down everything you need to know, making it that much easier for women to join our wonderful community.”

The Women’s Guide to Triathlon is a comprehensive resource for women of all ages and ability levels within the sport. This guide is USA Triathlon’s second educational publication; The Complete Triathlon Guide was published in 2012.
