USAT Paratriathlon National Championships Moving to Tempe

usatLogo(4)The 2014 USA Paratriathlon National Championships moves to Tempe, Arizona and is getting pushed back four months. Originally scheduled for May 26 at the Life Time Tri Cap Tex in Austin, Texas, the Championships will now take place Sept. 21 in conjunction with the Life Time Tri Tempe at Tempe Town Lake.

The change was made, in part, following the newly introduced ITU classification system for paratriathlon, which will not debut in the U.S. until May 31-June 1 at the 2014 Dallas PATCO Triathlon Pan American Championships. USA Paratriathlon, a program of USA Triathlon, intends to have a complete National Classification system in place prior to the National Championships in Tempe.

“Tempe has proven itself as one of the top triathlon cities in the country,” said Rob Urbach, USA Triathlon CEO. “We look forward to awarding national titles to our paratriathletes at Life Time Tri Tempe in September. The Life Time Tri CapTex in Austin will still host a physically challenged (PC) division and has always been a welcoming host for our paratriathletes. We again thank them for their generosity.”

“We are excited to host the USA Paratriathlon National Championships at a Life Time Tri event and honored to have such inspiring athletes competing at Life Time Tri Tempe,” said Kimo Seymour, Vice President of Life Time Athletic Events. “We look forward to providing the athletes with an outstanding experience in the City of Tempe, which has been an exceptional partner for us at Life Time for many years.”

Qualifying criteria for USA Paratriathlon Nationals will be announced at a later date.
