TriStar111 returns to Minnesota in 2012

Registration is open for the August 25, 2012 race.

On August 25, 2012, Star Events will continue to endorse TriStar111 Minnesota and the successful fun-focused triathlon approach in the United States of America. Individual and relay registration now open.

Maple Grove, Minnesota and Dare to Dream Events who produced a top 5 race in the 2011 “Triathlete’s Choice race of the Year” will again host TriStar111 Minnesota on August 25, 2012. Individuals and relay teams can experience the challenge of 111km of racing across beautiful landscapes and a weekend full of triathlon fun.

“The TriStar111 race format is truly the most unique and exhilarating distance in the sport of triathlon. It gives athletes an opportunity to mix long course endurance with short course intensity without destroying the body for future events. TriStar111 Minnesota is perfect for both the athlete looking for a challenge and the athlete looking for a tune up race that won’t leave them recovering for weeks. I highly recommend making this race a priority on everyone’s racing schedule,” says 2011 PRO podium winner A.J. Baucco.

TriStar111 Minnesota takes place in America’s #1 biking community and also the fittest city. Starting and ending in the spacious Weaver Lake Park in Maple Grove, the race features a 1km (0.6mi) swim, 100km (62mi) bike and 10km (6.2mi) run.  With a two-loop bike and run course, spectators can easily engage with the action and support their favorite athletes along the way.

TriStar’s fun-focused format is accessible to both individuals and relay teams of 2-3. Additionally, with support of Urban Tri of Minneapolis, all PRO athletes are invited to race in pursuit of the $10,000 PRO cash purse. German, Maik Twelsiek and Arizona based Amy Kloner took first place in 2011: both hope to return to Minnesota to defend their titles.

“The early response to the TriStar format has been incredible! After hosting the inaugural U.S. event in 2011, athletes have come to appreciate the TriStar brand and its fresh race experience. We’ve been asked when and where to find more TriStar events. We’re certainly eager to announce TriStar in Minnesota and the future destinations to come,” says Race Director Lindsey Kurhajetz.

TriStar, a brand known for its focus on fun, social responsibility and environmental protection, offers a premium weekend experience for all. Athletes enjoy the activity of the Star&Co Sports Expo, race briefing, backpack, finisher shirt and medal, post race meal in the Relaxing Zone and entrance, dinner and drinks during the post race Star Night and awards celebration. Such a combination is the flagship of all international TriStar events.

The TriStar label is owned by Star Production SARL, a Monaco based company specializing in organizing high quality sports events that are focused on fun, social responsibility and environmental protection. The TriStar Series has grown to 28 races in these 14 destinations in less than three years: Split (Croatia), Nevis (St.Kitts and Nevis), Mallorca and Madrid (Spain), Worms-Germany (Germany), Lyon, Deauville and Cannes (France), Estonia-Otepää (Estonia), Minnesota (USA), Monaco (Monaco), Sardinia (Italy), Milton Keynes (GBR) and Salzkammergut (Austria). TriStar has introduced new distances to the sport of triathlon (A/N: 111km and 222km), officially recognized by ITU, as well as a new Team Racing Concept T5.
