Bringing more than 30 years of experience deeply rooted in a variety of summer and winter Olympic/Paralympic sports around the world – from physiology to coaching to sport management – Davis returns to Canada to guide the Canadian triathlon program on its final journey to Rio.

“Peter brings a diverse background along with extensive knowledge of the Canadian sport system, and our partners, to Triathlon Canada which we believe will benefit our young team of athletes,” said Tim Wilson, chief executive officer, Triathlon Canada. “Peter’s track record speaks for itself. Regardless of the role he has played – in both amateur and professional sport – he simply knows what it takes to achieve excellence.”

Originally from Australia, Davis has worked with professional sport teams, Olympic teams and amateur sports at all levels and age groups. He began is career in high-performance sport as exercise physiologist with Nike Inc. in 1981, before joining the Australian Institute of Sport in the lead up to 2000 Games. Davis returned to the United States after the Sydney Games to direct the Coaching and Sports Science division at the United States Olympic Committee until the 2006 Winter Olympics. Following a brief stint as general manager of the high-performance unit for Australian Rugby, Davis joined Canada’s Own the Podium program where he was named director of sports sciences, sports medicine and technology.

Davis has operated his own sports consulting company over the last seven years where he has worked with Olympic committees, Olympic teams, and national sport organizations around the world in all areas of high-performance sport planning and development. In addition to consulting with Triathlon Canada, Davis will continue to deliver world-leading services to his clients while operating Sport Performance Management.

“Peter is a detailed strategic planner that has an impressive track record in positioning high-performance athletes for success,” said Wilson. “I have no doubt he will continue to concentrate his leadership on ensuring Canada’s triathletes remain focused on excellence.”

“Triathlon Canada has established itself as a leader in the sport, and has consistently produced champions at all levels of international racing,” said Davis. “We have a tremendous opportunity ahead of us with a talented group of young athletes currently in our development pathway. We need to continue building on the plan and work that has been done to help develop these athletes to the next level, and ultimately, get Canada back on top of the Olympic podium while also staying focused on winning medals at the Paralympics when the sport makes its debut in Rio.”
