Tisseyre wins her first Rev3 in Anderson
Starkowitz takes the men's race in South Carolina.
Bringing a close to the 2011 Rev3 Race Series, Canada’s Magali Tisseyre and American Andrew Starkowitz won the inaugural Half Rev3 Anderson in South Carolina.
American Jasmine Oenick led the swim (25:01) followed by Meredith Kessler (25:24), and Canada’s Tenille Hoogland (25:35). Tisseyre exited the water in 27:45.
On the bike ride Kessler took to the front early but 56 kilometres into the 90-kilometre ride she somehow lost her saddle and had to finish the rest of the ride standing. Hoogland used the top split of 2:29:18 to take over the lead and was looking good for the win.
However, Tisseyre ran to fastest half marathon (1:23:43) to chase down Hoogland and with barely more than one kilometre to go, the two battled it out for the win. Tisseyre came out on top to become the first ever winner of Half Rev3 Anderson (4:24:23) and got her first Rev3 title in the process. Hoogland took second (4:24:40), and Kessler had the second fastest run to grab third (4:26:02).

For the men, American Brian Fleischmann set the pace during the swim (24:04) with Andrew Starkowitz close behind (24:10). That would be the last time Starkowitz would stare at someone else’s back for the rest of the day.
Starkowitz rode a race best 2:09:37 to build a healthy lead of close to five minutes by the time he headed out on the run. Under no serious threat, Starkowitz ran 1:19:25 to take the win in 3:54:46. Local South Carolina pro Rich Allen came in second (3:56:40), and New Zealand’s Callum Millward finished third (3:57:44).
