Tim O’Donnell and Amanda Stevens win Ironman Brazil

American Amanda Stevens won her first Ironman title today in Brazil with a 48:44 swim, 4:51:29 ride, and 3:20:05 run to stop the clock at 9:05:53.
Victoria’s Sara Gross came off the bike in seventh trailing Stevens by almost 14 minutes, but threw down the top run of the day (3:09:44) to give Stevens a late scare to finish a close second (9:08:38). Jessie Donavan surrendered too much time on the swim and run and had to settle for third (9:10:29).

American Tim O’Donnell also secured his first career Ironman title today in Florianopolis. O’Donnell was simply on the top of his game and no one could challenge him. He started with the second best swim of 44:24 (just 5 second behind the top swim), then powered through with the fastest bike of 4:22:23, and he didn’t let up running the top marathon of 2:50:18 to finish in 8:01:32.
Brazil’s Igor Amorelli followed next for second (8:19:39), and Germany’s Stefan Schmid picked up third (8:25:01). Defending men’s champion Ezequiel Morales of Argentina dropped out during the bike ride.
