American Andy Potts and Great Britain’s Chrissie Wellington defended their titles at the Timberman 70.3 in Gilford, New Hampshire. Potts set the pace early with a 22:23 swim split, and was never seriously threatened after that, winning in 3:51:19. The Italian pair of Alberto Casadei (3:58:52), and Massimo Cigana (3:59:32) were second and third. Ottawa’s Cliff Worden-Rogers was the top Canadian male in 15th (4:23:50). Wellington, the Ironman World Champion, took control of the race with a 2:19 bike split, and had to hold off a fast running (1:20 half marathon) fellow Brit, Catriona Morrison (4:17:07) for the race win in a time of 4:15:11. Magali Tisseyre finished third (4:23:54).

“Things didn’t go quite as planned as I was very dehydrated on the run and felt my legs nearly cramp more than once. But I am happy about my race because the swim and bike were descent and I gave the run my best effort on that day. I held on, and survived,” said Tisseyre.
