Canada’s Tamara Jewett delivered a standout performance in New Zealand, running her way to victory at Challenge Wanaka in a tightly contested women’s race.

Jewett crossed the line in 4:28:39 after unleashing her trademark strength on the run, pulling clear late to secure the win. New Zealand’s Bec Clarke followed in second in 4:30:43, with American Gabi Lumkes just three seconds back in third (4:30:46), underscoring how fiercely fought the podium battle was.

The result highlighted Jewett’s reputation as one of the sport’s most dangerous runners – a weapon she’s increasingly bringing to full distance racing as well.

On the men’s side, New Zealand’s Jack Moody powered to the top step in 3:51:23. Fellow Kiwi Mike Phillips finished second, 2:47 behind, while Germany’s Frederic Funk rounded out the podium in third, 3:14 back.

Phillips’ finish carried extra meaning as he was welcomed home by his young daughter, making Wanaka his baby Isla’s first triathlon experience – a moment that resonated well beyond the results sheet.

Held in the heart of New Zealand, Challenge Wanaka is one of the longest-running events in the Challenge Family calendar, second only to Roth in longevity.
