The PTO announced on Tuesday that the T100 World Championship Final is headed to Doha, Qatar, this year. The Middle Eastern city will host the event through to 2029. The five-year deal will not only include year-end races for the world’s top professional triathletes, but it will also feature age group races. The season finale will run from December 11 to 13.

The inaugural T100 Triathlon World Tour season was a massive success in 2024. The tour featured six races across the globe, with the final event coming in Dubai in November. The season will still culminate with a race in the Middle East this year, but just a skip across the Persian Gulf to Qatar.

The addition of a Qatar event to the T100 calendar is part of the continued growth of triathlon in Middle Eastern nations. Bahrain has been invested in the sport for years, the Supertri final has been held in Neom, Saudi Arabia, for the past three seasons, and Dubai has played host to a successful 70.3 race for the past decade. In addition to triathlon, Qatar has hosted major events like the FIFA World Cup and Formula 1 races in recent years.

The T100 series will now be billed as the T100 Race to Qatar. In addition to the professional race, there will be a 100-kilometre event for age groupers (the same distance as the pros, with a 2-kilometre swim, an 80-kilometre bike, and an 18-kilometre run) and several other swimming, cycling, and running events for amateurs.

The T100 Race to Qatar will kick off in Singapore on April 5 and 6, followed by seven more races (including the first Canadian T100 event in Vancouver in June) before the series finale in Doha in December.
