Symonds ready in Galveston

Penticton native looks to take advantage of his run.

Penticton’s Jeff Symonds is all set to have a big performance tomorrow that Memorial Hermann Ironman 70.3 in Galveston, Texas.

The 24 year old, is a former University of British Columbia cross-country and track runner, and sees that as being beneficial in tomorrow’s race.

“I’ll go as fast as I can. Hopefully I will hide at the back and people will be saying ‘who is that guy’ as I fly by them on the run,” said Symonds earlier today. “Kind of just lay low until my strength. I think I am the best runner here, so hopefully I will let people know that tomorrow.”

After this race, Jeff will set his sights on the Calgary 70.3 and the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater. No Ironman races in the near future just yet; he is only 24 after all. But when he does do one Ironman Canada is sure to be first on his list.
