British Columbia athletes fared well at the Lake Stevens Ironman 70.3 race in Washington

British Columbia athletes fared well at the Lake Stevens Ironman 70.3 race in Washington State. Leading the charge were Jeffrey Symonds (4:03:46) and Heather Wurtele (4:29:24).  Both placed second in their respective pro races. Australia’s Joe Gambles won the race in 3:56:36 thanks to a race best bike and run, while American Becky Lavelle outran Wurtele to win the women’s race (4:28:16). XTERRA legend Melanie McQuaid was fourth (4:36:19), Sara Gross was tenth (4:50:16), and Mike Neill was ninth in the men’s race (4:15:02).
