Swim Cancelled for Ironman China

Full refunds offered but more qualifying spots added.

The swim segment for Ironman China and Ironman 70.3 China races have been cancelled due to the local government shutting down access to the reservoir where the swim was to take place. The Sunday May 29th races have now become bike-run duathlons.

A full refund of entry fees is being offered to athletes wishing to withdraw from the event but if they decide to stay registered, they can vie for increased World Championship qualifying slots. Ironman has increased the number of qualifying slots for the Ironman World Championships (from 50 to 60), and the Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Lake Las Vegas, Nevada (from 25 to 35).

The race is also a qualifier for the 2011 Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship, held in Laguna Phuket, Thailand, on Sunday, December 4th.
