Stage is set for an Edmonton ITU Grand Final bid

1.3 million to be sent to upgrade the lake at Hawrelak Park.

A major hurdle has been cleared to allow Edmonton to mount a strong bid to host the ITU Grand Final in 2014.

The City of Edmonton agreed to spend $1.3 million to bring the lake in Hawrelak Park up to the standards required by the ITU. The lake will drained, sediment removed, and it will be made deeper. Cleaning up the lake will also allow for residents to use it for a variety of recreational activities.
