Simon Whitfield is backing the newest triathlon series for kids. Tri-FUN Kids’ Triathlons has just launched its series for kids ages three to 13 to get active and have fun. Tri-FUN aims to promote the emotional, physical and social benefits of play through sport can, but also to aid in developing Canadian multisport talent.

Whitfield famously began racing at 11 years old and believes in opportunities such as he had in youth triathlon. “Triathlons for kids are a great way to introduce children to multisport. The experience also gives kids a boost of confidence and a sense of accomplishment, which helps to encourage involvement in sport throughout childhood as part of a healthy lifestyle,” says the four-time Olympian and gold and silver medallist.

Tri-FUN’s 2014 series will be held around the Greater Toronto Area over June to August in Vaughan, Mississauga, Oakville, Milton and Guelph. A $49 entry fee provides athletes with shirts, medals, freebies, snacks and more. Families can also enjoy a Fun Zone to play in after the race that includes an interactive LEGO® experience among many other family-friendly and play-based activities.
