Saskatchewan’s Craven-Genki Pike Lake Triathlon

Provincial Championships and Now a World Championship Qualifier!

Athletes competing at the upcoming Craven-Genki Pike Lake Triathlon on June 19, 2011 can now qualify for spots at the 2012 World Triathlon Championships in Auckland, New Zealand (October 18-22, 2012) announced the Saskatchewan Triathlon Association Corporation (STAC) and the Saskatoon Triathlon Club Inc. (STCI).

“It’s incredibly exciting for Saskatchewan to be able to offer our athletes this opportunity,” said CJ Katz, president of STAC. “We will be offering spots in the Olympic and Sprint distances in all age categories, which means that we will be able to send a potential 48 Saskatchewan athletes to Worlds next year!” Qualifying spots will be offered for 12 age categories beginning with 18 year olds and extending to athletes in the 70 plus category. Spots are available to male and female competitors.

The Craven-Genki Pike Lake Triathlon is also the provincial qualifier for the Saskatchewan Provincial Team, which will compete at the National Triathlon Championships in Kelowna August 20-21, 2011. All athletes who make the provincial team will receive funding support from STAC to attend nationals.
