Rose City triathlon wrap up

On a rainy summer weekend, the Rose City triathlon in Welland, Ontario, went off without a hitch.

Saturday was the long course triathlon, as well as swim/bike, bike/run and relay race options. The triathlon included a 2km swim, 56km bike and 15km run, which is a change from the usual half Ironman distance. Nigel Gray was able to overcome the weather and post the fastest time of the day, 2:48:12. Ryan Power and Kevin Pogacar finished behind Gray in second and third. The top woman was Tamara Jewett; she completed the course in a time of 2:57:14. Behind Hewett was Shelia Treleaven in second, and Paolina Allan in third.

Stevie Blankenship won the long course swim/bike race, and Peter Schindler won the bike/run race. The winning team of the relay was PR Endurance Training.

On Sunday, it was the sprint triathlon, along with the duathlon, swim/bike, swim/run, relay and give-it-a-tri races. The sprint triathlon was won by Jesse The Elf in a time of 1:00:45, followed by Miles Lane and Art Hare. The top woman was Miranda Tomenson in a finishing time of 1:07:43. Maia Idzikowski came in second, and Kelsey Hunter in third.

Dorothy Kosciuch won the sprint swim/bike, and Sebastien Bouffard won the sprint swim/run. The Three Y’s Team won the sprint triathlon relay.

Garvin Moses and Jennifer Schindler won the sprint duathlon, and PR Endurance Training won the duathlon relay.
