Some of the of top professionals in the sport went head to head yesterday at the Rev3 Half Iron distance race (at Quassy Amusement Park) in Middlebury, Connecticut.

A pair of Australians literally ran away with victories. Craig Alexander ran a 1:14:05 half marathon to win the men’s race, and Mirinda Carfrae ran 1:21:59 to overtake Julie Dibens for the win.

On the age group front, Guelph’s Michael Hay finished 23rd overall (4:34:54) and won the men 40-44 category, while Orillia’s Jonathan McMillan finished second (4:41:49) among men 20-24. Oakville’s Tyler Lord (4:38:23) and St. Catherine’s Nicole Guembel (5:38:31) were the lone Canadian professionals. Lord placed 19th, while Guembel fell out of contention following the swim and ended up 13th.
