Rev3 comes to Florida

Half Iron in October of 2012

Revolution3 Triathlon is excited to announce a brand new race for the 2012 season!  The weekend of October 27 and 28, Rev3 will take over Sarasota for a brand new Half Distance event.  The Half distance will comprise a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 run.

Known for its beautiful coastline and white sands, the swim will take place in the crystal blue waters of North Lido Beach.  A short run from the swim finish will take athletes to the transition area.  From there, athletes will start on the two-loop bike course, which swings by the world-famous St. Armand’s Circle  and hitting a section that is fast and flat.  The run course starts out with a few miles in the shade before taking athletes onto South Lido Key, skirting some of the bike course and offering beautiful views of the downtown Sarasota skyline.  After that, athletes cover the Sarasota bay front before heading into the sandy, beach-side finish line in front of the Lido Resort.

Sarasota is located on the Southwest coast of Florida and is famous for being the winter home of the Ringling Brothers Circus.  Sarasota is a year round destination for families and hosts numerous arts, culture and music festivals.  Relax on the white sand beaches or visit any of the local art museums, shopping districts or some of the best preserved natural lands in Florida at the Myakka River State Park.  Sarasota truly offers something for everyone.

“We’ve wanted to bring a race to Florida, and Sarasota is the perfect location,” said Charlie Patten, President of Rev3. “Sarasota is a beautiful area and offers numerous activities for families to enjoy and a unique and challenging course for our athletes.”

Revolution3 Triathlon believes that the triathlon race experience should provide a quality experience the whole family, and tailors its races to ensure a superior race day event.  Rev3 races are weekend-long events, often featuring concerts or outdoor movies and athlete and family only admission to the theme park prior to the race.  Revolution3 has also gained a reputation for attracting many of the top pros in the sport, and often offers spectators the opportunity to see them up close and on the course.

Revolution3 will release more information about the race as it draws closer.  Visit Rev3Tri.com to learn more about Revolution3 and to see photos and videos from other events.  Since its inception, Revolution3 Triathlon has grown to include both national and international races, Olympic, 70.3 and 140.6 distances and encourages family, friends and spectators to experience the race along with the athletes who are competing.

* The bike course is still being finalized and it should be noted that the final approvals have not been given. An update will be provided as soon as it’s available.
