Germany’s Andi Boecherer and Australia’s Christie Sym won Ironman 70.3 Cancun titles in the heat and humidity of Mexico today.

Boecherer used the fastest bike (2:07:44) and run (1:18:44) to cross the line in 3:55:19, ahead of Italy’s Daniel Fontana (4:02:05), and Australia’s Timothy Reed (4:04:23).

Meanwhile, Sym did not have to work as hard on the run. After swimming a second best 29:33, she blasted the front of the race with a dominating 2:28:49 ride, and ran 1:38:00 for the 4:40:31 win. Mexico’s Melody Ramirez finished second (4:51:22), and Italy’s Carla Stampfli claimed third (4:52:36).

Montreal’s Karine Grandmaison took second in the women 30-34 category with a time of 5:06:07.
