It was a very busy day in Port Macquarie, Australia today. Two races at one venue and all in one day.
Australia’s Pete Jacobs swam 46:29, biked 4:41:04, and ran 2:59:14 to lead the race from start to finish and claim the men’s title in 8:29:28. Switzerland’s Caroline Steffen dominated the bike (5:12:39) to comfortably take the women’s win in 9:29:54.
Calgary’s Scott Curry finished 8th (9:06:31), and Mississauga’s John Wragg added to his 100+ Ironman finish count by crossing the line in 14:51:54.

Australia’s Joe Gambles gained the race lead with the top bike split (2:14:11), and that enabled him to hold off faster runs posted by Australia’s Tim Berkel (1:15:22) and Cameron Brown (1:16:53) to take the win in 3:58:15. New Zealand’s Joanna Lawn went unchallenged in the women’s race, leading from wire to wire to win by over 7 minutes (4:29:36).
