Racing halted for the ITU’s win leader

Fernandes says she will return.

Portugal’s Vanessa Fernandes, the ITU’s winningest athlete with 20 World Cup titles, announced that she will be taking a break from competitive triathlon.

The 25 year old 2008 Olympic silver medallist, has battled injures in recent years and plans to return to the sport when she feels ready and fully healthy to compete at the high level she is used to.
