Previewing the 14th Ironman Lake Placid

Canadians Danais, Zelazo, Grant, and Harju to race Sunday.

The 14th Ironman Lake Placid is set to go on Sunday and due to its proximity to Canada, there will be a number of Canadians in contention for podium spots both in the professional and amateur ranks.

Quebec’s Dave Harju, the 2003 and 2004 Ironman Wisconsin Champion returns for his eighth Lake Place appearance, and he will be joined by Ottawa’s Ryan Grant to take on race favourites Peter Jacobs (AUS) – second at the 2011 Ironman World Championships, Andy Potts (USA) – 2007 Ironman 70.3 World Champion, and Romain Guillaume – the 2012 Ironman 70.3 Mont Tremblant Champion.

Toronto’s Suzanne Zelazo and Quebec’s Marie Danais, both have had a few top ten performances this year at Ironman 70.3 events, will take on a field of woman littered with first year pros and those with similar race credentials. None have won an Ironman race though, so a new women’s Champion will be determined

Ironman.com will have live race day coverage.
