Previewing Ironman 70.3 New Orleans

Kelowna's Trevor Wurtele returns to defend his title on Sunday April 21st.

Last year, high winds caused race officials to change Ironman 70.3 New Orleans into a 2-mile run, 52-mile bike, and 13.1-mile run duathlon – also a duathlon in 2011. Both the race organizers and athletes hope that doesn’t happen again this coming Sunday April 21st.

Kelowna’s Trevor Wurtele returns to defend his title against a professional men’s field that includes speedsters like Andreas Raelert and Ben Hoffman. Fellow Canadians Ryan Cain and Martin Lamontagne Lacasse join him on the start line.

American Sarah Piampiano will not toe the line to defend her title but Canadian Annie Gervais will be there along with favourites Amy Marsh and Joanna Lawn.
