Americans took top honours at today’s Ironman 70.3 Florida.

Andy Potts led from start to finish. His race best swim (23:25) put him in front right from the start, and he added a race best 2:08:44 bike ride to go along with it. Potts finished off with a 1:17:44 run to cross the line in 3:53:14, close to four minutes ahead of the Ukraine’s Maxim Kriat (3:57:10). Orillia’s Brent Poulsen ran a second best 1:17:37 half marathon to move up to ninth overall (4:07:44).

Caitlin Snow showed once again that she is one of the top runners in the sport by posting an untouchable 1:20:30 half marathon to come from behind to take the win (4:22:31) over Germany’s Nina Kraft (4:28:36). New Zealand’s Anna Cleaver held the lead after the swim (26:00) and bike (2:23:32), but could not hold on to her torrid pace during the run and fell to sixth (4:36:10). Quebec’s Annie Gervais overcame a slow swim and worked her way into fifth (4:35:35) upon crossing the finish line.
