Mexico’s Crisanto Grajales outsprinted American Kevin McDowell to take gold on Toronto’s waterfront this morning, while his countryman Irving Perez rounded out the podium to prove that Mexico is a force to be reckoned with on the world scene.

Canadian Andrew Yorke made a gallant effort in the race, running in second place behind Jason Wilson for much of the first three laps of the four-loop run, but would eventually be passed by the surging group and be relegated to seventh, while up-and-coming star Tyler Mislawchuk overcame a broken rib (an injury he sustained last weekend) to hang tough for 10th.
